The Lagos Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has formally presented party flags to its 57 chairmanship and 376 councillorship candidates for the July 12 Local Government Elections.

The ceremony, held at the APC State Secretariat in Ogba, marked the commencement of the party’s campaign.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, assured the candidates of the government’s support to emerge winners in the election.

Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that “The love I have for this party is unquantifiable. I am with all the candidates. This is not just an official flag-off; it symbolizes the beginning of hard work and dedication,”.

Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council, called upon the party’s flag bearers to dedicate themselves to public service when elected.
“Youths should be on stage now and do the work of the party. The love of our community and society should be paramount to us,” Olusi said.

The Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa, highlighted the need to support party candidates.
“The party is supreme. We must stand by the decision of the party. We must obey the party and support all our candidates,” Obasa said.
Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, State APC Chairman, commended party leaders and aspirants for maintaining peace throughout the primary process.

He encouraged flag bearers to continue reconciliation efforts and winning over those who contested against them.
“Let us reach out, knock at the doors, and solicit support,” Ojelabi said.
The Lagos APC LOC Campaign Chairman, Alhaji Babatunde Balogun, expressed optimism that all the party’s flag bearers would triumph at the polls.
“This election is local and at the grassroots, so we need to campaign vigorously at the ward level,” Balogun said.

The Chairman of the Screening and Primary Electoral Committee, Mr. Babatunde Ogala, expressed his gratitude to all the aspirants who participated in the contest for the 57 Chairmanship and 376 Councillorship positions.
He noted that the fact that no litigation arose after the primary suggests that the process achieved a high success rate of over 90% and urged the party’s flag bearers to comply with the guidelines of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission to avoid potential litigation from opposing parties.
