The Ikeja Local Government, on Wednesday, convened its 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Meeting at the Council Secretariat, bringing together community leaders, political stakeholders, religious bodies, youth groups, and residents to shape the developmental priorities for the coming fiscal year.
The session opened with a welcome address by the Council Manager, Mrs. Juliana Odubeko, who led the management team. She appreciated stakeholders for their consistent support and reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to participatory governance.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Head of Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. (Mrs.) Yemisi Razak, noted that the meeting followed earlier community engagements held across the six wards. She described the forum as a consolidation process aimed at capturing citizens’ feedback and strengthening inclusiveness in budget preparation.
In his keynote address, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), said the proposed Budget of Better Days 1.0 underscores his administration’s renewed commitment to delivering impactful governance. According to him, the “Better Days” vision translates into improved infrastructure, upgraded schools, stronger healthcare delivery, enhanced welfare systems, and sustainable development for all Ikeja residents.
Chairman AKOD assured participants that every submission and idea raised during the engagement would be carefully considered in finalizing the 2026 fiscal plan. He stressed that the budget would go beyond figures to deliver tangible, people-centered projects across the council area.
The interactive session featured robust contributions from stakeholders, with the Chairman responding to issues and recommendations as they emerged.
Notable attendees included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore, who delivered the vote of thanks; the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Rasheed Adisa Ogunseye, alongside all six councillors; the APC LGA Chairman, Alhaji Dally Adeokun, with party executives; the CDC Chairperson, Alhaja Folami, with CDA leaders; traditional Baales; the Ikeja CAN Chairman and other religious leaders; the NYCN Ikeja executives led by Comrade Blessing; and representatives of People Living with Disabilities led by Comrade Rotimi.
Chairman Dauda concluded by restating his commitment to inclusive governance and community-driven development, assuring residents that “the 2026 Budget will truly usher in Better Days for the good people of Ikeja.”
