Ojodu LCDA was agog as the administration of Chairman Hon. Olusegun David Odunmbaku hosted its annual Bursary and Teachers’ Empowerment Programme, recognising outstanding teachers and providing financial support to 60 higher-education students.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Head of the Education Department, Mr. Akeem Adekoya, followed by opening remarks from the CDC Chairman, Pastor Segun Fayemi. Both speakers commended the Odunmbaku administration for prioritising education and urged the beneficiaries to remain committed to academic and professional excellence.
Representing the Chairman, the Vice Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Kafayat Funmilayo Layeni, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to improving teachers’ welfare and supporting educational development.
She noted that investing in educators was an investment in the future of the local council, stressing the important role teachers play in shaping the next generation.
The highlight of the programme was the presentation of awards and cash prizes to outstanding teachers. Mr. Oladapo Olusegun Adedayo emerged as the first-place winner and received ₦350,000, while Mr. Francis Desmond Itunu, who placed second, received ₦250,000. Mrs. Bisilola Oluyemisi Ajala emerged as the third-place winner.
In addition, 12 other teachers received consolation prizes in recognition of their contributions to education, while 60 higher-education students were presented with bursary awards of ₦50,000 each to support their academic pursuits.
The event was attended by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Abdulsalam Olawale; Leader of the House, Hon. Opeyemi Apatira; Chief of Staff, Hon. Olaide John Bello; councillors, supervisors and other education stakeholders.
The programme ended on an appreciative note, with beneficiaries expressing gratitude to the Ojodu LCDA administration for the initiative. The Supervisor for Education, Hon. Damilola Fayoyin, delivered the vote of thanks.
