LASURA Holds Stakeholders’ Engagement on Katangowa Improvement Plan
The Lagos State Government is set to commence construction work on Ahmed Mohammed Road and Ogunyemi Road in the Katangowa axis of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA in October 2026, with the project expected to be completed within 12 months.
The development was disclosed during a stakeholders’ engagement organised by the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA) at the Lagos ICT Park, Katangowa, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The meeting brought together relevant stakeholders to deliberate on the implementation of the proposed Improvement Plan for the two roads, its expected impact on the Katangowa Market axis, and the need for collective support to ensure its successful execution.
Speaking at the engagement, the General Manager of LASURA, Tpl. Oladimeji Animashaun, highlighted the anticipated benefits of the project, noting that the intervention would improve accessibility, upgrade infrastructure, create a more conducive environment for trading and business activities, and promote sustainable development within the Katangowa axis.
Representing Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA, the Executive Vice Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Yusau Shobayo, who led the Council’s delegation, commended the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for its continued commitment to infrastructural development and urban renewal across the State.
Shobayo noted that the improvement of Ahmed Mohammed and Ogunyemi roads would enhance the movement of people and goods, support traders and businesses, and further stimulate economic activities within the Katangowa Market axis.
He reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to supporting development initiatives capable of improving the quality of life of residents while creating a more conducive environment for traders, businesses and other stakeholders across Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA.
The stakeholders’ engagement also provided an opportunity for participants to offer suggestions, raise concerns and strengthen collaboration towards achieving a well-planned and sustainable transformation of the Katangowa Market environment.
According to Engr. Atilade Otunla, representative of Comprehensive Consortium Limited, the construction firm handling the project, work on both Ahmed Mohammed Road and Ogunyemi Road is scheduled to commence in October 2026.
He stated that the construction programme is expected to run for 12 months, with completion targeted within the period, subject to effective cooperation and support from relevant stakeholders.
The proposed intervention is expected to significantly improve road connectivity and accessibility within the Katangowa axis, while supporting commercial activities and the broader urban renewal objectives of the Lagos State Government.
