WORK INTENSIFIES AS OLORUNDA LCDA BEGINS RECONSTRUCTION OF CUSTOMARY COURT, AREA OFFICE IN IWORO

As amola charges workforce and residents on productivity and maintenance

Tuesday 8th September, 2020

Having announced plans to commence the reconstruction of the Customary Court and Area Office in Iworo, Olorunda Local Council Development Area on Tuesday 18th August, 2020, the Works Department of the Council has since commenced work. Activities picked up days later and have since intensified.

The reconstruction became necessary as the previous structures were old and waning. Also, the Area Office, stationed right beside the Court is no longer a conducive environment for administrative activities as the number of employees has since buried the workspace available.

Pressed on what necessitated the move, the Supervisory Councillor for Works, Hon. Olatunji Ogabi referenced the dilapidated state of the buildings. In his words;

*”The buildings were outdated and dilapidated. Also, the Area office has become too small for the staff and needed expansion and reconstruction. At the time it was built, it housed few staff but at the moment more hands have been recruited and the working space has become too small to accommodate them*

*”The Court on the other hand is damaged so it also requires reconstruction to wear a better look and to gain the respect and confidence of the people”*

In a brief phone chat with the remarkably proactive *Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde (SAMOLA)*, the Executive Chairman of the Council who is also fondly referred to as Mr. Project by admirers, it was clearly established that the ongoing reconstruction work is part of the aggressive revamp and provision of important infrastructure across the LCDA. The Council boss went further to congratulate the people of the axis as well as the workforce.

He concluded by charging them to take responsibility and ensure that the facilities are well protected and maintained.

“Erecting structures has never really been the problem, it is the maintenance. And as far as maintenance is concerned, it starts with the everyday users. So we are reconstructing for the benefit of our people and we expect this to foster productivity from the workforce while also being properly maintained by all.”
