The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary Education District III, Dr. Yinka Ayandele, has lauded staff of the District retiring from the service of the State Government, saying that their doggedness, resilience and commitment to duty contributed to the excellent performance of students from the District during the last exams conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Dr. Ayandele, who recalled that the District had the best WAEC results among other Education Districts in the State in Y2020, stated that such feat would not have been achieved without the support and teamwork displayed by the retired officers.
According to her, the teaching profession has taught the retirees resilience, creativity and contentment, just as the retired officers contributed immensely to humanity and made positive changes among the leaders of tomorrow while they were in active service.
She advised the retirees to remain relevant in their immediate communities and be available for the State government and their communities whenever the need arises.
The TG/PS also commended the Lagos State Government and the Office of the Head of Service for the immense support over the years in the area of the welfare of both serving and retired officers.
The representative of the Public Service Office, Mrs. Rasheedat Olatunji, acknowledged the efforts of the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary for setting a good precedent for others in the area of professionalism and commitment to duty.
She enlightened the retirees about various benefits and post retirement plans already put in place by the Public Service Office, including the acquisition of different skills for interested retirees.
Responding, Mr. Olukayode Kazeem, who spoke on behalf of other retirees, appreciated the Lagos State Government and also made an appeal for prompt payment of their retirement benefits.
Recall that the Last Day in Office is a yearly programme for retirees exiting Lagos State Service statutorily, but Education District III postponed the event because of the spike in COVID-19 last year.
