PRINCE OLUSI @ 90: LAGOS CELEBRATES ICON OF LEADERSHIP, SERVICE AND STATESMANSHIP
Nine Decades of Wisdom, Service, Impact and Enduring Legacy
LAGOS — Lagos State is set to celebrate one of its distinguished elders and notable statesmen, Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, OON, as he clocks 90 years, with a series of activities lined up to honour his remarkable life of leadership, service and community development.
The Planning Committee for the milestone birthday celebration, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Her Excellency Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, said the three-day programme would bring together family members, friends, political associates, traditional and community leaders, public servants, business leaders and well-wishers to celebrate nine decades of an impactful life.
The celebration, organised with gratitude to Almighty Allah, is expected to provide an opportunity to reflect on Prince Olusi’s contributions to Lagos and Nigeria, as well as his enduring commitment to leadership, community development, education and public service.
At 90, Prince Olusi’s milestone transcends longevity. It represents a remarkable legacy built over decades of service, wisdom and dedication to humanity.
Throughout his life, the elder statesman has distinguished himself through principled leadership, courage, intellectual depth and commitment to the development of his community and society at large.
His journey exemplifies leadership anchored on responsibility, influence tempered by humility, service driven by selflessness and success measured by the positive impact made on the lives of others.
DAY ONE: LEADERSHIP, IDEAS AND THE FUTURE
Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi Annual Leadership Symposium & Educational Fund/Academy Launch
Date: Thursday, October 8, 2026
Venue: Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos
The celebration will commence with the Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi Annual Leadership Symposium, which is expected to attract eminent scholars, intellectuals, policymakers, political leaders, professionals and thought leaders.
The symposium will provide a platform for constructive dialogue on leadership, nation-building and the responsibility of preparing younger generations to assume positions of leadership with competence, integrity and vision.
A major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of the Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi Educational Fund/Academy, an initiative aimed at supporting education, nurturing talent and creating opportunities for future generations.
The initiative reflects a central philosophy associated with Prince Olusi’s life: that one of the most enduring investments a society can make is an investment in its people, particularly its youth.
DAY TWO: A LIFE OF GRATITUDE
Special Prayer and Thanksgiving Service

Venue: Lagos Central Mosque, Lagos Island
The second day will be dedicated to prayers and thanksgiving at the Lagos Central Mosque, where family members, friends, associates, religious leaders and well-wishers will gather for a special Juma’at service.
The service will provide an opportunity to thank Almighty Allah for the gift of 90 years, the blessings of family and friendship, and a life enriched by service and meaningful relationships.
Prayers will also be offered for Prince Olusi’s continued good health, strength, peace and many more years of purposeful and fulfilling life.
DAY THREE: A GRAND CELEBRATION OF A LIFE WELL LIVED
Grand Reception
Date: Tuesday, October 13, 2026
Venue: The Monarch Event Center, Lekki-Epe, Lagos
The celebration will culminate in a grand reception at The Monarch Event Center, bringing together family, friends, political associates, community leaders and distinguished guests from across Nigeria and beyond.
The occasion will provide an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate a man whose life and contributions have become closely associated with the history, growth and social development of Lagos.
The Planning Committee expressed particular appreciation for the participation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, as Special Guests of Honour.
The Chief Host is Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, while the Planning Committee is chaired by Her Excellency Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.
The Committee also expressed appreciation to distinguished personalities, institutions, family members, friends and associates who have contributed to making the 90th birthday celebration a memorable occasion.
