
A landmark partnership between the National Institute for Sports (NIS) and the Lagos State Football Association has certified 300 Grassroots Coaches following an intensive four-week training regimen.

Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS) Prof. Olawale Moronkola in his keynote address at the certificate presentation ceremony for the 300 certified coaches on Saturday at the NIS Conference Hall, complimented all the participants and urged them to apply experiences gained in the last 4 weeks to improve their teams and football at the grassroots.

Prof Moronkola noted that with optimism this milestone will herald a new chapter in Grassroots Football Sustainable Development while fostering the identification of untapped potential at the grassroots.
He thanked the Lagos FA Chairman, Alhaji Gafar Liameed, and his team for the impactful partnership toward the sustainable development of grassroots football in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole

The Registrar of the Sports Institute, Mr. Belmond Benson advised the coaches to continue improving their knowledge of the football game and highlighted other professional courses offered by NIS.
Mr. Benson thanked the facilitators and the Coordinator of the training Program Dr. O. Odion for the well-packaged workshop.
On behalf of the participants, the 300 Coaches representative, Coach Kunle Ajayi expressed gratitude to the NIS and Lagos FA for the developmental training to improve their knowledge of the game of football and urged his colleagues to deploy the techniques and tactics learned during the workshop.
The 300 grassroots coaches were selected across the 5 football divisions of Lagos State and other states.
