The General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, has urged service providers and stakeholders within the disability community to respond promptly to requests from the Agency to ensure effective planning and delivery of interventions.

Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal made the call while addressing Heads of Associations of Persons with Disabilities, Managers of Homes for Persons with Disabilities, Service Providers, and other stakeholders during a Zoom meeting held on January 19, 2026.

She noted that delays in submitting requested information, such as lists of cluster heads and accurate data on members, often hinder the Agency’s ability to implement timely and impactful programmes.

According to her, “Timely responses to requests from LASODA are critical to the success of our interventions. When information is delayed, it affects planning and limits our ability to reach those who need support the most.”

The General Manager stressed the importance of collaboration, calling on stakeholders not to hesitate to contact the Office for clarifications or to offer suggestions, to ensure that persons with disabilities are fully integrated into all aspects of social and economic life in Lagos State.

Reflecting on the achievements recorded in the previous year, Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal highlighted several programmes implemented by the Agency, including support initiatives for the elderly, the provision of assistive devices and work tools for civil servants with disabilities, and targeted interventions for children with disabilities.

While acknowledging the progress made, the General Manager emphasised that more work remains to be done to expand the reach and effectiveness of disability-focused programmes across the State.

She expressed optimism that 2026 would provide greater opportunities to scale up interventions and deepen impact, urging stakeholders to use the platform of the meeting to review collective efforts, strengthen partnerships, and explore innovative ways of achieving shared goals.

Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to building a more inclusive society and called for sustained cooperation among all stakeholders.

“Our collective goal is to create a Lagos State where persons with disabilities can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the State’s social and economic development,” she stated.

The highly interactive meeting was attended by Heads of Associations of Persons with Disabilities, Managers of Homes for Persons with Disabilities, Cluster Heads, Service Providers, and other key stakeholders registered with the Agency.
