Lagos State Government mourns death of Labour Leader, Comrade Domingo Michael Adeleke

The Lagos State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Comrade Domingo Michael Adeleke, Chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), who died on Monday, June 8, 2026, following a brief illness while attending the ongoing 114th Session of the International Labour Convention in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Lagos State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Comrade Domingo Michael Adeleke, Chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), who died on Monday, June 8, 2026, following a brief illness while attending the ongoing 114th Session of the International Labour Convention in Geneva, Switzerland.

In a condolence message issued on behalf of the Lagos State Government, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, extended heartfelt sympathies to the family of the late labour leader, his colleagues, members of the labour movement, and workers across Lagos State.
Describing his death as a painful and irreparable loss, Agoro noted that Comrade Adeleke was a committed unionist and a passionate advocate for the welfare, rights, and interests of workers throughout his distinguished career.

The late JNC Chairman was part of the Lagos State delegation to the 114th International Labour Convention when he reportedly fell ill and subsequently passed away.
The Head of Service acknowledged Comrade Adeleke’s invaluable contributions to the labour movement and his unwavering dedication to promoting harmonious labour relations and advancing the cause of workers in the state.

He further disclosed that arrangements are currently underway to repatriate the deceased’s remains to Nigeria.
The Lagos State Government prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and asked God to grant his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire labour community the strength to bear the loss.

It also expressed hope that his legacy of selfless service, leadership, and commitment to workers’ welfare would continue to inspire future generations.
