APC Ikeja Holds First Post-Congress Meeting, Pledges Unity Ahead of 2027 Polls
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikeja Local Government Chapter, on Friday held its first general meeting following the recently concluded party congress, with members reaffirming their commitment to unity and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, held at Tokunbo Alli Primary School on John Olugbo Street, Ikeja, attracted a large turnout of party leaders, executives and members from the six wards of the local government area. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and solidarity as the newly elected APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Adetoro Adebowale, presided over his first official general meeting.
The gathering also served as the formal introduction of the new LGA executive members, while ward chairmen presented reports on activities and developments within their respective wards.
Addressing party faithful, Hon. Adebowale expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support and confidence reposed in the new leadership. He pledged to run an inclusive, transparent and accessible administration.
“Our doors will always remain open. Every member will have direct access to me at all times. In this party, our members are supreme. Your values, your voices and your dedication remain the driving force behind the progress of our great party,” he said.
The APC chairman also charged ward chairmen to intensify mobilisation for the ongoing INEC Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), urging all eligible members and supporters to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the registration deadline.
The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), attended the meeting alongside the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore, members of the Executive Council and other council officials.
Despite a heavy downpour after the meeting, AKOD described the rainfall as “a rain of blessings,” saying it symbolised a positive beginning for the new party leadership.
Speaking with Lagos Panorama, the council chairman said his administration attended the meeting to appreciate party leaders and members for conducting a peaceful congress that produced new executives at both the ward and LGA levels.
He also commended party stakeholders for the transparent primary elections that produced APC candidates for the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
AKOD urged party members to remain united, sustain the momentum of the party and mobilise eligible voters who are yet to register with INEC to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise.
