A 32-year-old woman was on Wednesday rescued alive by operatives of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service after falling into an uncovered well approximately 60 feet deep at No. 14 Mustapha Bolatiwa Street, off Agric Bus Stop, Ikorodu.

The dramatic incident, which attracted a large crowd of residents, was described by eyewitnesses as “a miracle,” given the depth of the well and the duration of the fall.

According to residents, the woman, whose identity had not been immediately confirmed, reportedly wandered from a nearby compound and was seated on the edge of the well before slipping and plunging in.

Upon receiving a distress call, personnel from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service swiftly mobilised to the scene and commenced a coordinated rescue operation.

Confirming the development, the Director of the agency, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, said the woman was pulled out alive following an intense and delicate operation.

“She was immediately stabilised and taken to a nearby hospital for further medical attention,” Adeseye stated.

The Fire Service Director also used the opportunity to caution residents to ensure that all open wells and similar structures are properly covered to prevent avoidable accidents.

Adeseye commended the professionalism and swift response of the rescue team, reiterating the agency’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State.
