First Bank of Nigeria Limited has launched a new Naira Visa Debit Card in partnership with Visa to accelerate electronic payments and drive financial inclusion across Nigeria.

The newly introduced card is designed to provide millions of Nigerians with affordable, secure, and reliable access to cashless transactions for everyday spending, both locally and internationally.

Accepted on POS terminals, ATMs, and online platforms within Visa’s global payment network, the Naira Visa Debit Card aims to ease the transition from cash-based transactions to digital payments, especially for retail purchases, utility payments, and e-commerce activities.

Speaking on the launch, Chuma Ezirim, Group Executive, eBusiness & Retail Products at FirstBank, said the initiative was created to simplify everyday transactions and expand access to secure digital payments for Nigerians across all income levels.

“Everyday transactions should be simple, secure, and rewarding. The Naira Visa Debit Card is designed to make life easier for our customers while supporting Nigeria’s cashless policy and advancing financial inclusion,” he stated.

Also commenting, Andrew Uaboi, Vice President and Cluster Head, West Africa at Visa, described the partnership as a major step toward building a stronger and more inclusive payments ecosystem in Nigeria.

According to him, the card further strengthens Visa’s collaboration with FirstBank by expanding payment options available to Nigerian consumers and ensuring broader access to modern financial services.

The launch adds to FirstBank’s existing portfolio of Visa products, including credit and premium lifestyle cards, while extending electronic payment solutions to more Nigerians nationwide.

The Naira Visa Debit Card is now available to eligible FirstBank customers through the bank’s branches across the country.
