FG list companies, routes for 50% interstate travel discount

The Federal Government has listed five participating companies and routes for the implementation of its 50 percent reduction in interstate transport fares and free train rides.

According to presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga, the five companies are God is Good, Chisco Transport, Young Shall Grow, God Bless Ezenwata, and Area Motor.

Onanuga also listed the routes for the scheme which are as: Lagos – Kanο, Lagos – Abuja, Lagos – Jos, Lagos – Enugu, Lagos – Onitsha, Lagos – Owerri, Lagos – Aba, Lagos – Abakaliki, Lagos – Nsuka, Lagos – Uyo, Lagos-Kaduna-Zaria and Lagos – Port Harcourt.

Others routes are: Onitsha-Kano, Onisha-Lagos, Onisha-Jos, Onisha-Abuja, Onisha-Sokoto, Onisha-Gombe, Onisha- Zakibiam, PH – Owerri-Aba-Kano, Aba-Owerri- Abuja, Aba-Lagos, Abuja-Sokoto, Abuja-Lagos, Abuja-Onitsha- Owerri – Port Harcourt, Abuja-Enugu/Abakaliki, Abuja-Gombe and Abuja-Kano.

The scheme, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, 20 December 2023, will begin today (Thursday).

The gesture is aimed to provide succour to citizens who are heavily weighed down by the prevailing high cost of transportation commuting across the country, especially during the yuletide.

Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, who is the Chairman of the six-man inter-ministerial committee on presidential intervention, explained that the President is well aware of the recent increase in cost of inter-state transportation and even for air travel.
