The Federal Government has inaugurated a high-level technical committee to undertake a comprehensive review of the proposed $200 billion Integrated Gas, Power and High-Speed Rail Project.
Inaugurating the committee, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, said the initiative is designed to transform Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape, stimulate economic growth, and position the country as a major player in the energy and transportation sectors.
According to a statement issued by the Head of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the SGF, Chris Ugwuegbulam, the project holds significant potential to enhance transportation systems and drive industrial development across the country.
The statement noted that the committee’s mandate includes a thorough review of all relevant project documents, verification of claims by proponents, and assessment of the technical, legal, and environmental components of the proposal. It is also expected to provide objective, evidence-based recommendations to guide government decisions.
Akume charged members of the committee to carry out their assignment with professionalism, objectivity, and patriotism, while engaging key stakeholders to ensure due diligence and adherence to international best practices.
