AGBADO/OKE-ODO, LAGOS — The administration of the Executive Chairman of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA, Hon. Ejigbadero, has rewarded three outstanding young scholars with laptops in recognition of their exceptional achievements in academics, leadership and talent development.
The laptops were presented on behalf of the Executive Chairman by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Yusau Shobayo, who commended the beneficiaries for their outstanding accomplishments and urged them to remain committed to their education and personal development.
Shobayo encouraged the young scholars to combine hard work, discipline and dedication with prayers, noting that determination, faith and perseverance would help them translate their aspirations into reality.
The beneficiaries are Aliu Joshua Okena, a student of Surulere Secondary School, who served as One-Day Chairman in 2025 and demonstrated remarkable leadership potential and civic consciousness at a young age; Yusuf Yusuf of Community Primary School, Oke-Odo, winner of the Lagos State Spelling Bee Competition (Primary Category); and Godwin OmoOso Mercy of Dateforte High School, Abule-Egba, winner of the 2025 Eji Essay Competition.
The Eji Essay Competition is an annual initiative organised by Mega Trends Production as part of the Agbado/Oke-Odo Festival, with the objective of promoting good character, creativity and the discovery of hidden talents among young people.
In his welcome address, the Special Adviser on Information, Communication, Technology (ICT) and New Media, Reformer Rahman Akinpelu, said the initiative was conceived to recognise and encourage young people whose exceptional performances demonstrate a commitment to academic and personal excellence.
Akinpelu described the presentation as a significant milestone, noting that it was the first initiative of its kind in the LCDA. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to identifying, celebrating and supporting young residents who distinguish themselves through excellence.
Also speaking, the Council Manager, Dr. Osodipe Oladapo Idowu, highlighted the growing importance of education and digital skills in today’s rapidly evolving world.
He urged the beneficiaries to make meaningful use of the laptops, remain focused on their studies and maximise the opportunities available to them.
The event, held at the Council Conference Hall, was attended by the Leader of the House, Hon. Wasiu Aduragbemi Giwa Idowu; members of the 6th Legislative Arm; members of the Executive Committee; and the Management Team of the LCDA.
The Head of the Information and Communication Technology Unit, Mrs. Adedoyin Aminat Endurance, delivered the closing remarks.
The initiative underscores the administration’s belief that recognising and supporting excellence among young people is an investment in the future.
For the Ejigbadero-led administration, empowering young minds goes beyond a one-off reward; it represents a commitment to nurturing a generation of educated, innovative and responsible leaders who can contribute meaningfully to the development of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA.
