Nigerian wrestling dynamites, Odunayo Adekuoroye and Blessing Oborududu have claimed Nigeria’s sixth and seventh gold at the 2022 ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Friday.
Adekuoroye won the gold in the Women’s 57kg Freestyle Wrestling after beating Anshu Malik of India.
The 2018 Commonwealth champion defeated her opponent 6-4 in the final to successfully defend the crown she won in Gold Coast four years ago.
En route to the final, the reigning African champion defeated Canada’s Hannah Taylor in the semis in a swashbuckling 10-0 victory.
While Blessing Oborududu won Team Nigeria’s second gold medal of the Day.
Oborududu defeated Linda Morais in the 68kg women’s category final.
Her victory came hours after compatriots Odunayo Adekuoroye won the country’s sixth gold.
Oborududu is now a two-time Commonwealth Games Champion after also claiming gold at the 2018 edition of the event.
The medal feats mean Team Nigeria has won seven gold, two silvers and six bronze medals.
