The chronicle of Alausa 13 years without a traditional leader

Alausa a principal district in Ikeja Local Government, the state capital of Lagos State the commercial hub of West Africa.

Alausa is the seat of the Lagos State Secretariat and offices of the Governor and Deputy-Governor of Lagos State.

Brief Historical Background

The Alausa community have traditional ruler classified as Baale according to the Yoruba customs and tradition.

The traditional ruler administers the customary activities with the supervision of the Ikeja local Government council.

The first settlers of Alausa were Odewale a hunter and Awoseyin Bashorun an Ifa priest in the 1800 century.

Awoseyin became the first Baale in 1890 while his son Amodu Bashorun took over rein of the district after his demised in 1905 because Odewale was on a hunting expedition at the time.

Amodu reined from 1905 to 1950 before the Odewale lineage took over rein through Buraimoh Kolade (Odewale) 1957 to 1978.

Jimoh Olaleye Ajenifuja took over from 1980 to 2007.

The passage of the last Baale of Alausa late Chief Jimoh Ajenifuja Awoseyin III since 4th October 2007 have created vacuum for 13years and that is about to be filled in a few weeks from now barring the issue of the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the entire world.

Baale Elect

The major and popular contender to the royal stool and Baale elect Prince Toyin Beedmos, a Security operative in the UK, recently spoke with Lagos Panorama in an exclusive interview.

The egalitarian officer talked about his plan to offer every Alausa indigene and settlers opportunities for peaceful coexistence and developmental growth.

Prince Beedmos who enjoy the support of both youth and the elders of the peaceful district while speaking with Lagos Panorama he alluded that his vast of experience and education acquired home and abroad would aid him to administered appropriately.

The former pupil of Saint Peters Primary school, Alausa stated that he to hope bring everybody together for the development of Alausa “naturally everyone would want to aspire to a higher position”.

“As the Baale elect I sure will work with everyone, we are one big family so the growth and development of Alausa should be our priority. With my local and international experiences and the support of the good people and leaders most especially our most esteemed Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Iyaloja General of Nigeria Chief Mrs Folashade Tinubu, Mr Tayo Ayinde, Mayor Alani Okikioposu and all other leaders of the community we’ll all join hand to move Alausa to the next level”.

“We don’t have a library and town hall. This are part of our priorities including the welfare of the people as soon as I ascend the trone by God’s grace” averred the eloquent soft spoken Baale elect of Alausa.

Alausa district has a vibrant and growing Central Business District with several multinational business concerns like Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Nigeria Bottling Company one of the world’s largest bottlers of The Coca‑Cola Company brands, Shoprite one of the biggest players in the Nigerian supermarket chain industry and many others having their offices located in the area.

It also has many low and high density residential estates like the Cornerstone Estate; MKO Abiola Gardens, a Police Barrack and the indigenous settlements all located within it.
