The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for the resignation of Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, within 48 hours, failing which he will be impeached by the State House of Assembly.

The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for the resignation of Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, within 48 hours, failing which he will be impeached by the State House of Assembly.

Chief Tony Okocha, Chairman of APC in the state, made this call during a press briefing at his private residence in Port Harcourt on Monday morning.

Okocha alleged that Fubara had disparaged President Bola Tinubu while attempting to propose a political solution to the state’s crisis.

He stated, “As a political party, we are presently advising the governor; there are two options, resign honourably or face impeachment. This is the stance of the All Progressives Congress. He has disrespected Mr. President, and we informed him that we cannot tolerate such disrespect towards Mr. President.”

“The offences are there; the Supreme Court has agreed and even provided us with more evidences. The House of Assembly does not need to set up any committee again to investigate him.

“48 hours is too much to give him as ultimatum. He should just resign honourably.”
