… As HOS calls for improved service delivery



Lagos State Government on Thursday presented awards to 19 public servants, and corporate award recognition to four of its Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs who distinguished themselves in their chosen professions and outstanding contributions towards development of Lagos State as a whole.
In his address at the event of the Y2019 Productivity Order of Merit Awards, with the theme ” Productivity for National Re-Engineering, Security and Growth, the Lagos Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, charged the awardees not to rest on their oars but should instead continue to exhibit high sense of responsibility, commitment to duty and unalloyed loyalty to the growth of the public service.
He stated that the theme of this year’s award should serve as a wak up for them, especially given the reality of the inevitable change that we must make individually and collectively.
” The quality and pace of National re-engineering achievement achievable in the short and longer term would be directly proportional to and consequent upon how well we are able to review of work systems, processes, procedures and strategies for growth, as well as security, particularly at the national level”, he said.
Muri-Okunola further charged the awardees to improve their service delivery to Lagosians and the State Government by rededicating themselves to the service of the state.
“By the universal nature and character of recognition awards , today’s award is a further call to duty. As we say in Lagos, the reward for hard work is more work. As such, I wish to enjoin all workers in the state to continue to discharge their civic responsibilities efficiently and diligently”, he said.
Earlier in his address, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mr Samson Ajibade, said the objective of the award is to further encourage diligence, commitment and loyalty amongst public sevants in Lagos State in anticipation that the award will spur them to continue to put in their best in the service of the state.
Also in his presentation, the Guest Lecturer, Mr Diran Ajetunmobi, Director, Public Affairs, PSSDC, Magodo, dwelled extensively on the theme of the award and charged all public servants to ensure they are productive anywhere they find themselves, because according to him, ” Productivity is never an accident, but something we should work for not minding whether what we would gain.”
He spoke further that it is only a productive nature that would have capacity to re-engineer, would be secured and grow.
The awardees inluded Mr Adeniji Hakeem Oduyinka, Mrs Taiwo Abiola, Mrs George Abosede Oluwakemi, Mrs Oyegbola Olasunkanmi Mopileola, Mrs Elusakin Agnes Iyabo, Mrs Ogunsanya Jonathan Olugbemi, Mrs George Temitope, Mr Oreagba Bolaji, Dr Daniel Folayinka and others.
The recipients of the corporate award category are : the Ministry of Science and Technology Education District 1, Primary Health Care Board and Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation, OTCI.
