AKOD urges Ikeja residents to actively participate in 2027 electoral process

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has urged residents, political stakeholders and religious leaders to sustain their prayers, support and active participation in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has urged residents, political stakeholders and religious leaders to sustain their prayers, support and active participation in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dauda made the appeal on Monday, November 2, 2026, during the monthly Muslim prayer session organised by the Muslim community in Ikeja, led by the Chief Imam of Ikeja, Alhaji Kamarudeen Illo, at the Council Secretariat.

The Chairman called on residents to support the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in Lagos State and Ikeja, noting that another mandate would provide an opportunity for the party to consolidate its achievements, sustain ongoing reforms and deliver greater dividends of democracy.

Highlighting the gains of the APC-led administration, Dauda expressed confidence in the party’s capacity to deepen its development agenda and achieve more for Nigerians if given another opportunity in 2027.

He also encouraged residents to take ownership of the electoral process through voter mobilisation, active participation and peaceful engagement, stressing that collective responsibility was crucial to ensuring peaceful, credible and successful elections.

Dauda further emphasised the importance of prayers, unity and cooperation among residents in sustaining peace, security and development in Ikeja, Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Ikeja, Alhaji Kamarudeen Illo, led other Muslim clerics and members of the Muslim community in prayers for peace, progress and continued development of Ikeja Local Government.

The prayers also sought divine guidance, wisdom and strength for the Council Chairman, political leaders, public office holders and all those entrusted with leadership responsibilities.

The monthly interfaith prayer initiative underscores the AKOD-led administration’s commitment to promoting religious harmony, spiritual development and peaceful coexistence among residents, irrespective of religious beliefs and affiliations.
