The Lagos State Government on Saturday night hosted an elegant state banquet in honour of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, celebrating his distinguished service and enduring ties to the state.

The event, marked by colour and prestige, paid tribute to Disu’s remarkable career, particularly his impactful tenure as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) under the Lagos State Police Command, where he earned widespread respect for enhancing security and public trust.

In his remarks, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described Disu’s rise as both inspiring and exemplary, noting that his journey reflects the values Lagos instills in its people.

“Long before the world knew him as IGP, Lagos knew him,” the governor said. “The streets of this city shaped him, the lecture halls of Lagos State University refined him, and the communities of Lagos Island where he was born taught him the essence of responsibility and service.”

Sanwo-Olu highlighted Disu’s achievements in Lagos, especially his leadership of the RRS, where he strengthened security operations and built confidence among residents. He added that the IGP’s continued excellence on the national stage underscores his discipline, integrity, and dedication.

“His journey reminds us that greatness is built on hard work, integrity, and service. Lagos does not just raise dreamers; we raise leaders,” he stated.

Describing the evening as a celebration of service and the enduring Lagos spirit, the governor expressed pride in Disu’s accomplishments and his representation of the state at the highest level of policing in Nigeria.

“Here’s to the OG Good Guy of the Good Guys, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu—son of Lagos and servant of Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu concluded.
