Ikeja Chairman, AKOD provides holiday job opportunities for over 200 students

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has taken a bold step towards empowering the next generation at the grassroots level, flagging off the AKOD Holiday Job Programme with the presentation of offer letters to over 200 beneficiaries, signifying a significant achievement in the local government’s mission to positively engage and empower young people in the community.

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has taken a bold step towards empowering the next generation at the grassroots level, flagging off the AKOD Holiday Job Programme with the presentation of offer letters to over 200 beneficiaries, signifying a significant achievement in the local government’s mission to positively engage and empower young people in the community.

The ceremony, held at the Magistrate Hall of the Ikeja Local Government Secretariat, drew a large crowd of excited students and recent school leavers, accompanied by prominent stakeholders and council members.

The Director of Administration and Human Resources, Comrade Jubril Aliu, commended the chairman in his introductory remarks for his visionary leadership style, particularly in empowering the younger generation.

In his keynote address, Hon Dauda welcomed the programme’s launch, recognizing its potential to benefit society and offer young individuals hands-on experience for career development and public service proficiency.

He reinforced Ikeja’s position as a benchmark for youth engagement and growth, consistent with his I.K.E.J.A AGENDA.

This programme serves as an entry point to learning, service, exposure, and discipline, underscoring the importance of early involvement, according to AKOD.

Formal presentation of offer letters was conducted by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore, and six councillors from Ikeja Local Government, showcasing their backing for the administration’s youth empowerment and inclusivity drive.

The program wrapped up with Hon. Abisola Omisore, Vice Chairman, delivering a Vote of Thanks, applauding the Chairman’s commitment to impactful initiatives.

Beneficiaries were urged to take the opportunity seriously and maintain discipline throughout the two-month job period.

The Chairman and Council leadership received heartfelt thanks from two beneficiaries on behalf of all participants, who vowed to be diligent and excellent ambassadors of Ikeja Local Government throughout their engagement.

Designed for secondary school students and school leavers aged 16-25, the AKOD Holiday Job Programme exemplifies AKOD’s forward-thinking governance and dedication to empowering youth.
