Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has returned to Nigeria for the burial rite of his mother.

Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has returned to Nigeria for the burial rite of his mother.

His spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, disclosed his return in a video on X on Wednesday.

Koiki’s caption read, “I can confirm that Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho is currently on his way to Igboho Town for the final burial of his mother MRS S.A. Adeyemo.

“The body of MRS S.A Adeyemo was picked up from the mortuary in Saki Town some few hours ago.”

Recall that in 2021 Sunday Igboho was arrested by the security forces in the Benin Republic about three weeks after the Department of State Services declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms, an allegation he has since denied.

DSS had invaded his home in the Soka area of Oyo State over alleged terrorism charges.

The secret police had declared him wanted over his agitation for the Yoruba Nation and attacks on Fulani herders accused of having attacked farmers in the Southwest.

He was arrested at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic while attempting to flee to Germany.

However, he recently regained his freedom after two years in a Beniese prison.

While detained in Benin Republic, Igboho lost his mother who lived in Saki, Oyo State.

However, in October 2023, Igboho revealed that he was legally free to leave Cotonou for Nigeria and other countries.
