2023 Election: NYCN Lagos West Leaders Endorse Dr Idiat Adebule.

Lagos West youth, under the umbrella of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) have endorsed Dr Idiat Adebule, as their favourite senatorial candidate in the 2023 election.

The senatorial ambition of the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Idiat Adebule, received a great boost as the youth leaders and other relevant stakeholders across the constituency endorsed her aspiration.

Dr Adebule was endorsed on Thursday July 14, 2022, during the historic youth and governance symposium organized by the leadership of NYCN Lagos West Senatorial District at Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.

The program had in attendance over 2,000 youth and electorate drawn from various strata of the society, especially the 28 LGAs and LCDAs in the senatorial district.

According to the organizer and vice-chairman of NYCN, Lagos West Senatorial District, Comrade Ademosu Jamiu, the event, which was themed, “Youth And Governance: Active And Conscientious Involvement Towards Building A Greater Nation”, was organized to sensitize the youth to the all-important need to take active roles in politics moving forward.

Ademosu expressed his satisfaction in seeing over 2,000 youth from various units of society and notable personalities at the event.

The coordinators of the twenty-eight local branches, youth leaders and stakeholders present endorsed the former deputy governor, describing her as the mother of the youth.

Speaking on the need for such a political move, Ademosu clarified that, though the youth body is not partisan, the impressive record of Adebule in youth development has motivated all to endorse her.

He added that with Adebule replacing the outgoing Senator Olamilekan Adeola in the Red Chamber, the youth can be assured of continued development in the district and progressive legislation.

Speaking to Akab Media correspondent at the event, the Chairman Planning Committee, Comrade Ibrahim Adigun, commended the Lagos West youth leadership for the initiative.

He noted that poor political participation is noticeable among the youth. “There is a need to get them involved.”

“To achieve this aim, we need to gather the youth and discuss factors discouraging them from participating in the politics of their fatherland,” Adigun said.

He added that the event was “aimed at changing the narrative and make sure they are actively involved in politics”.

Adigun also appreciated the youth, political leaders and other dignitaries who attended the event.

The event also featured a panel session with the Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye, Hon. Rasaq Ajala; and Mr Segun Awosanya, a renowned End SARS convener, among others.

Panellists at the event included the Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Ajala; Vice Chairman of Agege LCDA, Hon. Gbenga Abiola and a Lecturer at Lagos State University, Dr Ganiyu Abiona.

Others were Business Magnate and public Affairs Analyst, Prince Nixon Okwara; Speaker, Nigeria Youth Parliament, Azeezat Yishawu; SSA to the State Governor on Science and Technology, Engineer Saheed Balogun; Hon. Razak Sunmonu and Mrs Aminat Attahiru from Rave TV.

The keynote speaker, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, H.E. Dr Kadir Obafemi Hamzat, and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, were represented at the event.
