2021 Budget Stakeholders Forum: Ikeja LG prepares ahead for 2022 fiscal year

Towards preparation  for 2022 fiscal year, Ikeja local government under the Dr. Mojeed Alabi Balogun led administration organizes 2021 budget stakeholders forum held in the council secretariat on Tuesday 30th November, 2021.

Welcoming all stakeholders present, the council manager, Mr Azeez Abiodun Saheed appreciates the timely presence of everyone at the forum. He noted that stakeholders are joint partners with the council in terms of ensuring sustainable development at the grassroots.

The council Chairman in his speech appreciates the Ikeja All Progressives Congress (APC) party leadership under the LGA Chairmanship of Alhaji Dally Adekunle Adeokun who was also present at the forum.

Addressing stakeholders present, Dr. Mojeed Alabi Balogun highlights projects executed during his first 100 working days in office of his second term tenure;

✍️ Education development; rehabilitation of State primary school, Onipetesi Ikeja, as well as provision of marker boards in public schools in Ikeja,

✍️ Road and physical infrastructures; drainage rehabilitation in Ajiboye street, drainage and road reconstruction Ogunmade street, rehabilitation of road and drainage in Olukowi street, rehabilitation of drainage at Otunba oludare street, as well as  rehabilitation of Ikeja vocational training center and heath post. Ongoing construction of drainage at Olaide Tomori street.

✍️ Staff needs; provision to two hummer buses for Ikeja LG NULGE and Executive members respectively.

The council Chairman further noted that primary focus for 2022 fiscal year will be ‘physical transformation of local government council’. The council secretariat will have a new face-lift.

“There is a need to rebuild and reconstruct the local council secretariat. The current building has been in place since the creation of the local government over five decades back. There is a need to rebuild so as to meet the current demands of modern day governance and grassroots development. Hence, the necessity to construct new edifice of Ikeja LG council secretariat” – Dr. Mojeed Alabi Balogun said.

“In doing this, we will need the support of everyone and all stakeholders. I implore our traditional rulers here present to appeal to their people to pay their taxes and rates so that we can deliver on our promises. Government will do little or nothing when taxes are not paid” – Dr. Mojeed Balogun said.

“However, we will not neglect our annual empowerment programmes, drainage and road reconstruction, health and education development. But our main focus will be giving the secretariat a new look” – the executive Chairman posited.

Dignitaries present at the event include Vice Chairman of council, Hon. Yomi Musbau Mayungbe, members of the Legislative arm as led the Leader of the House, Hon. Ayotunde Adenuga, Ikeja LG management team as led by the Council Manager, Mr Saheed Azeez Abiodun, members of Ikeja LG NULGE as led by Comrade Olukayode Tunwashe, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ikeja chapter, Ikeja Islamic community, members of Ikeja traditional council, members of Ikeja CDAs, as well as other party loyalists of Ikeja APC
