In a bold move to cushion the economic pressure of the festive season on families, the Executive Chairman of Odi Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Seyi Jakande, on Monday officially flagged off the Council’s much-anticipated subsidized Ileya ram sales programme at the Council Secretariat.

The massive intervention, regarded as one of the biggest grassroots welfare initiatives by any council administration in Lagos State, saw 1,000 rams released for residents at a heavily subsidized price of ₦80,000 per ram.

The initiative is aimed at helping residents celebrate the Ileya festival with ease amid the soaring cost of livestock across the country.

Speaking at the launch, Hon. Jakande said the programme reflects his administration’s unwavering commitment to people-centered governance and inclusive prosperity.

According to him, the intervention goes beyond affordability, as it is designed to restore the joy, dignity, and spirit of celebration for families across the LCDA.

“This is what governance should look like — direct, impactful, and felt by the people,” the Chairman stated. “We will continue to explore meaningful ways to ease the burden on our residents and improve their quality of life.”

To guarantee a hitch-free exercise, the Council also deployed adequate logistics, security personnel, and crowd-control measures to ensure orderliness throughout the sales process.

Residents who participated in the exercise commended the initiative, describing it as timely, thoughtful, and a major relief ahead of the Ileya celebration.
