An 18-year-old girl, Rukayat Ashiru, appeared before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly drugging her boyfriend, Waris Olamilekan, and stealing N4 million from his account.
The alleged incident occurred on November 30, 2024, at Mufu Lanihun area in Yidi Agugu, Ibadan.
On Friday, February 28, 2025, Rukayat was arraigned in court on charges of conspiracy and stealing. She pleaded not guilty to the beverage
According to the police prosecutor, PC Olapeju Durodola, Rukayat and other individuals, currently fugitives, allegedly collaborated to drug Waris by introducing a substance into his beverage.
When Waris became unconscious, Rukayat supposedly took out N4 million from his account.
The prosecutor pointed out that the offences are against Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Law of Oyo State, 2000.
Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted Rukayat bail in the sum of N2 million, subject to the provision of two sureties.
The sureties are required to meet specific conditions: one must own property within the court’s area, and the other must be a family hearing
The matter was adjourned until May 26, 2025, for hearing.
