Youth, heroes for our great Nation – Hon Abdul Hamed Salawu

Today is undoubtedly a meaningful start for our youths, just like any other months of Autumn and it comprises of some many delights.

Today is undoubtedly a meaningful start for our youths, just like any other months of Autumn and it comprises of some many delights.

Being Monday, November 1st, 2021, which indicates a new weekday, a new month and also a long week holiday for pupils and students in our 18 primary schools, with the inclusion of the four junior and senior secondary schools in our Local Government, as cut across the entire schools in Lagos State.

This is to commend the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu for introducing to the school curriculum, what I called a unified break for both learners and teachers in private and public schools. The Governor is taking no back seat to prove his activeness in governance to fulfill his promises on youth development through his THEMES Agenda, 3rd pillar (Education and Technology) to the specific, and we expect to see more.

Few weeks back, it has been programmes upon programmes for the young people in the state under the Ministry of Youth and Social Development and Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, with the leads of Hon Segun Dawodu and Hon. Yetunde Arobieke, to make  Lagos youths prosper and focus on achieving a substantial career for stability.

With honour and cheerfulness, our administration is pleased to commemorate the annual ‘National Youth Day’ with our young leaders in our prosperous community, Somolu, the printing Hub of Africa.

It has been said and I’ll reemphasized, that the mentoring our youths with the right approach, is tantamount to  giving them the privilege to make tomorrow far better than our today.

For the basic schools mentees, the mid-holiday may seem the better chance to energize the spirit of playfulness, however it’s imperative for their guardians/parents to ensure they acquire additional learning methods, which would boost and improve their memories before they resume for the second half of their school activities.

The best advice one can propose to the young generation is to neglect the thought of procrastination, low self-esteem and conquer fear to take the lead now, there is no better time than the present, because tomorrow isn’t promised. Be the heroes for our great Nation towards National Development and Success Stories for the upcoming born leaders to imbibe hugely from.

I’m equally using this medium to appreciate and appraise our youths leaders in Somolu Local Government, who are relentlessly making usefulness of their time, roles, resources, efforts and opportunities earned for the enhancement of our territories.

May the good faces you are giving our home never be in vain for you and your family. Our administration is impressed with your hardworking traits and potentials for possibilities.

Happy National Youth Day!
