LAHASCOM ES, 860 others Bag Lagos Long Service Merit Award

•Uphold Unalloyed Dedication To Duty, HOS Charges Awardees

The Executive Secretary, Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission (LAHASCOM), Ms. Abosede Lambo and 860 other civil servants on Friday bagged the Lagos State Long Service Merit Award, having meritoriously served the state government not less than 30 years and above.

Other Permanent Secretaries who were equally awarded at the event held at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, are Mrs Helen Morenike Deile (Office of State Auditor General), Margaret Solarin (Tutor General/PS), Arch Foluso Dipe (Physical Planning and Urban Development), Mr Abiodun Bamgboye (Establishment and Training), Mrs Yetunde Adefolahan Odejayi (Deputy Governor’s Office), Mrs Adetutu Abiola Liadi (Economic Planning and Budget), Mrs Ganiat Abidemi Raji (Office of Finance), Dr. (Mrs.) Sherifat Bolajoko Balogun (Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives), Olumide Olufolami Erinle (Tutor General/PS), Oludara Oyebisi Okelola (Tutor General/PS), and Mr Olusina Isaac Thorpe (Information and Strategy).

The merit award, according to Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, was in furtherance of the conscious and deliberate celebration of diligence, commitment, hard work and loyalty, among public servants in the state as a way of expressing government’s appreciation and gratitude to select members of its workforce.

He said the ceremony was basically to reward public servants who have meritoriously served the state in the last 30 years and above, adding that the gesture was aimed at further encouraging awardees and other staff to continue to do their best in the service of the state.

“I congratulate and rejoice with all 861 proud recipients for this year’s awards and their relations here present for the grace of Almighty God which saw them through the last 30 years in the service of our dear state in good health, but also for their dedication, diligence, loyalty and invaluable contribution to the state Public Service and development of Lagos State.

“My advice to all awardees is that you should not rest on your oars, but continue to exhibit high sense of responsibility, commitment to duty and unalloyed loyalty which today’s recognition and celebration have been designed to reward.

“Accordingly, I enjoin all Public Servants in Lagos State to keep up the good attitude to work and continually perform your job to further the successful implementation of the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of the present administration,” Muri-Okunola said.

He said in compliance with the social distancing protocol to guard against the spread of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the presentation of awards started on November 3 at different centres across the state, while others joined through live streaming on various social media platforms of the state government.

Besides, the Head of Service commended the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for upholding the award which marked the 14th edition this year, saying it was on record that the Governor had displayed strong commitment to welfare of the workforce in the state.
