Woman dies as car plunges into 3rd Mainland Lagoon

A Saturday dawn tragedy struck Lagos after a Toyota Camry with registration number LSR 384 BE plunged off the 3rd Mainland Bridge into the lagoon, killing its lone occupant, a 29-year-old woman.

A Saturday dawn tragedy struck Lagos after a Toyota Camry with registration number LSR 384 BE plunged off the 3rd Mainland Bridge into the lagoon, killing its lone occupant, a 29-year-old woman.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the victim’s body was recovered lifeless from the water and handed over to the police and her family.

The incident happened around 5:11 a.m. near the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) checkpoint, inward Iyana Oworo, Ebute Meta.

Rescue operations involved the Fire Service’s Ebute Elefun crew, LASEMA, LASAMBUS, the Marine Department of the Nigeria Police, LASWA, and local divers.

The Controller General of the Fire Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the tragic recovery in a statement on social media, adding that the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
