Nigeria’s Super Falcons booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after an emphatic 6-2 victory over Egypt in their final Group C match in Rabat.
The defending champions produced an attacking masterclass in an entertaining eight-goal thriller to secure qualification for the last eight, finishing second in Group C behind Malawi.
Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 21st minute before Gift Monday doubled Nigeria’s advantage deep into first-half stoppage time. Egypt pulled one back through Ghazi from the penalty spot, but the Super Falcons responded immediately after the break with Kanu restoring their two-goal cushion.
Esther Okoronkwo’s side continued to dominate as Christy Ucheibe converted another penalty in the 81st minute, Rasheedat Ajibade added a fifth from the spot in stoppage time, and Omewa rounded off the rout with Nigeria’s sixth goal. Ghazi grabbed a late consolation for Egypt to complete the scoring.

Elsewhere in Group C, Malawi suffered a 2-1 defeat to Zambia but still finished top of the group on goal difference, while Nigeria claimed the second automatic qualification spot. Zambia, despite also finishing on six points, were eliminated on the head-to-head rule, with Egypt exiting the competition without a point.
