The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), has announced the safe release of the 38 worshippers abducted during the recent attack on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area.
In a statement on Saturday, November 23, Governor AbdulRazaq attributed the successful rescue operation to the direct and proactive intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whom he praised for taking personal charge of the situation from the onset.
According to the Governor, President Tinubu demonstrated strong commitment to national security by cancelling his scheduled trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa in order to address the security breaches in both Kwara and Kebbi states. The President also ordered enhanced security deployments across affected areas, including the dispatch of additional tactical teams to Kwara State.
Governor AbdulRazaq extended his appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Nigeria Police Force, acknowledging their coordinated efforts that led to the successful rescue of the abducted individuals.
He also commended security personnel on the ground, community leaders, religious organisations, and residents of Kwara State for their cooperation, resilience, and support throughout the period of the incident.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the safety of citizens and pledged continued collaboration with federal security agencies to maintain peace and stability across the state.
