The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emphasized the strategic importance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official visit to the United Kingdom, describing it as a critical step in advancing Nigeria’s economic diplomacy and global partnerships.
A major highlight of the visit is the anticipated signing of a £746 million financing agreement involving UK Export Finance, the Nigerian Ports Authority, and the Federal Ministry of Finance. The agreement is expected to fund the refurbishment of key maritime infrastructure, including the Lagos Port Complex and the Tin Can Island Port Complex.
According to the Lagos APC, the project represents a significant milestone in modernizing Nigeria’s port system, improving trade efficiency, and reinforcing the country’s status as a leading maritime hub in West Africa.
The party noted that the visit reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation and driving the Renewed Hope Agenda through targeted investments and partnerships. It added that engagement with key allies like the United Kingdom is vital for attracting foreign investment, boosting trade, and fostering sustainable economic growth.
