…Says Opposition Must Stop “Weaponizing Ignorance”

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at aides of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over their criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reported review of a clemency decision, describing the reaction as a “cocktail of ignorance, frustration, and political bitterness.”

In a strongly worded statement signed by the party’s spokesperson, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC said the opposition had once again demonstrated a poor grasp of governance, insisting that President Tinubu’s leadership is guided by due process, rule of law, and national interest — not by emotion or political noise.

“Leadership is not noise; it is responsibility. Informed review and reconsideration are marks of credible leadership and institutional maturity — not weakness,” Oladejo said.

He accused Atiku’s camp of misrepresenting governance dynamics due to what he termed their “permanent misreading of national issues” and outdated understanding of leadership.

“Having left office since 2007, Atiku clearly needs refresher lessons in modern governance. The world has evolved, but Atiku’s politics remain stuck in the past — outdated, unimaginative, and defined by repeated electoral defeats,” he added.

The statement further noted that it was ironic for a politician with a “tarnished record of defections, internal sabotage, and judicial tourism” to attempt to lecture President Tinubu on leadership and integrity.

“Instead of issuing hollow press tantrums, Atiku’s media handlers should focus on rehabilitating their battered political credibility,” the APC spokesman stated.

Oladejo stressed that Nigerians are “tired of bitterness-driven politics”, adding that while responsible leaders are focused on nation-building, “petty politicians are busy ranting.”

“President Tinubu will continue to lead with courage, constitutional discipline, and clarity of purpose — not with the confusion and resentment that define those rejected at the polls,” the statement concluded.
