The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, on Thursday, said the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is targeting over five million votes in Lagos during next year’s poll.

The chairman said the election should be taken more seriously because it is the first time the state has produced a presidential candidate on the platform of a ruling party since it was created in 1967.

Ojelabi unfolded the chapter’s plan for mobilisation during the inaugurTinubu ation of the 163-member Lagos State APC Election Campaign Committee at the party office on Acme Road, Ogba, Ikeja.

The committee is mandated to coordinate the campaigns for presidential, governorship and parliamentary elections in the state.

Governor Babaijde Sanwo-Olu is the chairman of the committee, Ojelabi is the deputy chairman and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat is the vice chairman.

The chairman who inaugurated the committee named Senator Ganiyu Solomon as Director-General while Ogboni Fuad Oki will serve as secretary.

Emphasising the challenge before the committee, Ojelabi said: “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is expecting g not less than five million votes from Lagos.”

Exuding confidence, Solomon said:”Our government and party have no serious challenger in next year’s election.”

However, the Director-General said Lagos APC will not take anything for granted

Ojelabi disclosed that although many party members wanted to serve on the committee, it is not possible to accommodate all.

He said the party satisfied the criteria of inclusion and wider participation, adding that members were carefully selected based on their abilities and the expectations of the party.
