President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly overnight attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Worro community.

The President directed that the new military formation should spearhead Operation Savannah Shield, a special security initiative aimed at flushing out terrorists, restoring peace, and protecting vulnerable communities in the area.

Condemning the attack in strong terms, President Tinubu described the assailants as cowardly and inhumane for targeting defenceless villagers in what he called a failed campaign of terror.

He expressed outrage over reports that the victims were killed for rejecting attempts by the attackers to impose extremist indoctrination, choosing instead to practise a peaceful and non-violent form of Islam.

“It is commendable that members of the community, though Muslims, refused to be conscripted into a warped belief system that promotes violence rather than peace and dialogue,” the President said.

President Tinubu urged close collaboration among federal, state, and security agencies to provide immediate relief to affected residents and to ensure that those responsible for the atrocity are brought to justice.

He also offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased and extended his condolences to the bereaved families, as well as to the people and government of Kwara State.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to confront terrorism decisively and safeguard lives and property across the country.
