Tinubu mourns Mabogunje, Balogun, consoles families

The ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of Professor Akin Mabogunje and former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun over their demise.

The ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of Professor Akin Mabogunje and former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun over their demise.

The two prominent Nigerians passed on Thursday. The late Mabogunje is Nigeria’s first Professor of Geography and a world-renowned Urban Planner while Tafa Balogun served as 11th Inspector-General of Police from 2002-2005.

Mourning the demise of the two eminent Nigerians, in a statement by his media office in Abuja on Friday,Tinubu extolled their service to the country and contributions to national development especially in areas of urban planning, sustainable development and national security where Mabogunje and Balogun performed excellently.

He said: “Professor Mabogunje passed on at an advanced age of 90 and we are grateful for his service to this great country and Lagos State in particular. He was an erudite scholar and urban planner. His record of service to the old Western Region, Nigeria as whole and Lagos in particular will stand in his eternal memory.

“Mr. Tafa Balogun as the Inspector-General of Police contributed significantly to national security and worked with commitment to keep our country safe. These two eminent citizens who finished their assignments here on earth will be remembered for their service to our great country.

“As we mourn their exit, I extend my condolences to the families, friends and associates they left behind and I pray that God will comfort them all. May their souls rest in perfect peace.”
