Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu holds the people of Imo State and Ndigbo in general in high esteem.

Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu holds the people of Imo State and Ndigbo in general in high esteem.

The Vice President, who made this known at the flag off campaign rally for the November 11 governorship election at Dan Anyiam, stadium, Owerri, Imo State, said the President has demonstrated this love for Ndigbo with the appointments in his cabinet.

“Right now the Minister of Trade and Investment is an indigenes of Imo State in addition to this, the President has approved special assistants and senior special assistants for my office.

“The President has graciously appointed three indigenes of Imo State my senior special assistant, Media, Stanley Okocha from Ngor Okpalla LGA here in Imo State; Special Assistant, Business and Productivity, Isacc Uzoma, is an indigene of the state, so also my special assistant on public health, Uju Rochas Okorocha who is also an indigene of Imo State.”

He said that the Governor Hope Uzodimma has done exceedingly well in terms of infrastructural development, in terms of value addition to the state of Imo, from the partry N16 billion, he has increased the Internally Generated Revenue to N30 billion per annum. He has built some state of the art roads here in Imo State.”

For the purpose of consolidation and continuity, he said it is extremely important for the people of Imo to rally round the governor and get him reelected for the second term.

“You may not appreciate him, but in the fullest of time, you will come to realise how important he is in the politics of Ndigbo. Ndigbo were described as economical enterprising and educationally ambitious but Ndigbo can not afford to play in the periphery of the Nigerian politics.” He said Governor Uzodimma is at verge of bringing forth Ndigbo into the mainstream of Nigeria politics.

“The good people of Imo I have seen your faces, I have seen the faces of Hope, I have seen the faces of resilience and determination, but mind you Rome was not destroyed by outside invaders, Rome was destroyed by complicit of the Romans. We cannot afford to be complacent on the 11th of next month, we should all come out in full force and reelect our governor for another term of four years.”

He reiterated that President Tinubu is 100 per cent behind Governor Uzodimma and holds him in the highest esteem.

While thanking the people on the behalf of the President, he promised that he would be coming back to the State with APC team including former Governors Ikedi Ohakim and Senator Rochas Okorocha.

The high point of the rally was the handover of the party flag to Governor Uzodimma by the national chairman.

The rally was attended by 16 All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors, former Governors, Ministers, National and Assembly members among others.
