President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the brutal attacks by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing them as barbaric and cowardly.
Reacting in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President said the killings in Jos and the abduction of wedding guests in Kaduna represent “an affront to all that Nigeria stands for,” assuring that those responsible will face justice.
Tinubu decried the attackers as “heartless cowards” who targeted defenceless citizens under the cover of darkness, warning that such acts are aimed at provoking reprisal violence and escalating bloodshed.
He directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and also clamp down on the spread of misinformation capable of inflaming tensions. The President cautioned against narratives suggesting the attacks were religiously motivated.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring peace, Tinubu urged citizens to cooperate with security measures, including evacuation and relocation directives where necessary. He also welcomed the safe return of two victims abducted in Kaduna.
The President further called on security agencies to be more proactive by acting on early warning intelligence, insisting that all remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued without delay.
He commended Caleb Mutfwang and Uba Sani for their efforts in managing the crises and supporting rescue operations.
Tinubu expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery, noting that the Federal Government is procuring advanced equipment to enhance real-time tracking and neutralisation of criminal elements across the country.
