Three people sustained various degrees of injuries following an explosion at a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refilling station in Benin, Edo State.

The incident occurred at NIPCO filling station in Aduwawa, along the Benin-Auchi Road, and was captured in a 25-second viral video.

Background voices in the video blamed the explosion on the use of fake and substandard materials for the vehicle’s conversion.

The explosion reportedly happened while filling CNG into the newly installed gas tank of an Audi vehicle, which was brought to the station for testing by the driver and the technician who installed the tank.

Among the injured were a station cleaner, a pump attendant, and another unidentified individual. They were immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

The technician responsible for the installation reportedly turned himself in to the police and led officers to the scene for further investigation.
