The Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Commissioner nominee Hon Barakat Akande a Councilor representing ward E1 officially tenders her resignation letter as Leader of the hallowed chamber Surulere Local Government Legislative Council on Tuesday
In a bid to select a new Leader, the letter was presented to the clerk of the house Mr. Kadiku Saheed to read to the hearing of other members of the Councilors.
Furthermore, the Clerk of the house put up a motion for the selection and nomination of another leader.
Hon Eric Rontinwa Chief Whip representing ward G2 moved the motion to nominate Hon. Adebayo Adebisi Davies as the new Leader, also majority leader Hon. Kehinde Adenifuja seconded the motion to nominate the Deputy Leader to become the new Leader of the hallowed chamber.
The Council Clerk further made the pronouncement for the nominated member Hon Adebayo Adebisi Davies to stand before the chamber for is election and was wholeheartedly and accepted by all other Councilors to assume the position of the Leader of the legislative chamber Surulere Local Government Legislative Council.
The Decoration of the newly elected Leader was done by the out-going leader, Hon Barakat Akande.
The majority Leader of the house, Hon kehinde Adenifuja nominated Hon Ajala Adebola Yusuf as the new Deputy Leader and was seconded by Hon Barakat Akande and uninterrupted Hon Ajala was hereby declared as the Deputy Leader of the hallowed chamber.
In her farewell speech the outgoing Leader and councilor representing ward E1 since 2018 saying it was difficult saying goodbye to the members of the hallowed chamber, but it is in a bid for the great responsibility ahead of her as commissioner designate, and appreciated all members of the Legislative Council for a successful reign as Leader of the house.
In his appreciation remark the new Leader of the house, Hon Adebayo Adebisi Davies thanked the former Leader and members of the legislative chamber for choosing him as the captain to steer the legislative chamber and wished the former leader a successful tenure as commissioner designate of the Lagos State and future endeavors.
