Nigeria’s Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, recounts that her path to football greatness started with selling olive oil, kunu and zobo drinks in church, preceding her rise as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated female athletes.
Today, Saturday, August 2, the captain worshipped at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Prayer City, KM12 along Lagos-Ibadan Express Road, to express gratitude and return glory to God.
The Atletico Madrid talented 25-year-old forward shared her story during the August edition of the ‘Power Must Change Hands’ program, a monthly event held at the church’s Prayer City in Ogun State..

The football star, born in Lagos, revealed that her formative years were marked by prolonged periods of hawking olive oil, kunu, and zobo at church premises during deliverance programs, imparting valuable lessons in resilience and deepening her faith.
Ajibade, who led Nigeria to victory in the 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, stated to the congregation, “Whenever things are tough at my club or with the national team, I pray. I do my part through hard work, but never forget to seek God’s help.”
She continued, “I was once one of those young girls out there hawking olive oil, kunu, and zobo drinks in most of the deliverance programmes, but today, I give glory to God”.
“Please, don’t give up, keep praying, keep fasting, keep working and keep believing.”
She says: “Sometimes last year, I was here to testify, and after that, we qualified for the Olympics and fast forward to May, when I was in my club, it was a very difficult season for me, and I was here for a deliverance program, but I was going through pains and injuries.”
She also recounted how she struggled through pains and injuries:
“It was really tough. I was going through injuries, pains, and all sorts of things. I didn’t know how to figure it out, but I just came here quickly,” she added.

She presented Nigeria’s jersey and awards to General Overseer Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya and Mummy G.O. at the Power Must Change Hands monthly fasting and prayer program, held on the first Saturday of each month.
Ajibade, a committed Christian, wore a “JESUS IS LORD” proclamation tag on her clothing and armband during the WAFCON24 tournament in Morocco, securing the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament award and three Player of the Match awards.
