President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Mr. Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following recent allegations and controversies surrounding his academic credentials.

Mr. Nnaji, who was appointed to the Federal Executive Council in August 2023, has been at the centre of a fake certificate scandal after an investigation by Premium Times revealed discrepancies in his claimed academic qualifications.

In his resignation letter, Mr. Nnaji thanked President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve Nigeria, noting that he had become a target of blackmail by political opponents amid the unfolding controversy.

President Tinubu, while accepting the resignation, appreciated Mr. Nnaji’s service to the nation and wished him success in his future endeavours.
