In a bold move to avert potential tragedies, the Lagos State Government has ordered the immediate closure of the PWD rail crossing to vehicles.

The Lagos government cited urgent safety concerns following the launch of the Red Line Train Service From May 1, 2025, the busy crossing will be completely sealed off to prevent accidents, forcing motorists to take alternative routes through Ikeja or Airport roads.

Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, issued a stern warning, stating that the drastic measure was necessary to stop further casualties along the high-risk corridor.

He said to ease the disruption, LASTMA officers would be stationed at critical points to manage traffic flow and prevent gridlock.

Osiyemi urged motorists to brace for the changes and plan their routes accordingly, as Lagos prioritises safety over convenience in its latest transportation shake-up.
