The Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, on Monday, February 16, 2026, commenced a comprehensive two-day onboarding programme for newly recruited junior and senior staff of the council.
The initiative, according to the council leadership, is aimed at strengthening institutional capacity, enhancing operational efficiency and reinforcing public service values within the local government system.
The onboarding sessions are designed to familiarise new employees with their respective roles, departmental mandates and the operational framework of Oto-Awori LCDA. The programme features interactive engagements on organisational structure, public service procedures, ethical standards, and strategies for effective community engagement.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Abiodun described the exercise as a strategic investment in human capital development.
“We are delighted to welcome our newly recruited staff into the Oto-Awori LCDA family. This onboarding programme is essential to ensuring that our workforce is adequately equipped with the knowledge, skills and orientation required to deliver efficient and people-centred services,” he said.
The chairman emphasised that his administration remains committed to upholding transparency, accountability and high standards of governance, adding that a well-trained workforce is critical to achieving these objectives.
Participants are expected to benefit from presentations delivered by senior council officials and subject-matter experts, including external facilitators, who will provide insights into best practices in public administration and the importance of maintaining a citizen-focused approach in council operations. The programme also provides opportunities for collaboration and team building among the new recruits.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Ajose Tekobo; the Head of Human Resources, Mrs Darajat Giwason; the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Branch Chairman, Comrade Ashebeji Olamikekan Yaqub; members of the management team; and the newly recruited staff.
The council reiterated its commitment to building a competent and knowledgeable workforce capable of driving sustainable development within the community. The onboarding programme, officials noted, aligns with the broader vision of fostering an inclusive and responsive local government that prioritises the welfare and aspirations of residents.
