The Executive Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, Hon. Ogundiran Jacob Oluwale, has debunked reports claiming that victims of a recent kidnapping incident in the area have regained their freedom, describing the information as false, misleading, and unverified.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the council boss clarified that the abducted victims remain in captivity and urged residents to disregard reports circulating on social and conventional media suggesting otherwise.
According to him, no official confirmation has been made regarding the victims’ release, stressing that only information from credible and authorized sources should be trusted.
“The kidnapped victims are yet to regain their freedom. Any report claiming otherwise should be ignored until officially confirmed,” he stated.
Hon. Ogundiran disclosed that security agencies at both state and local levels have intensified efforts to secure the safe rescue of the victims, with ongoing operations aimed at ensuring their return.
While acknowledging the anxiety and concern generated by the incident, the chairman commended security personnel for their commitment and sacrifice in the rescue mission. He also appreciated community leaders, residents, and stakeholders for their support, intelligence gathering, and prayers.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, he assured residents that no effort would be spared in securing the victims’ safe return.
“The safety and well-being of our people remain our top priority. We will continue to work closely with security agencies and relevant stakeholders until the victims are reunited with their families,” he said.
The chairman further appealed for calm and vigilance, warning against the spread of unverified information that could jeopardize ongoing rescue efforts.
