Ojodu Local Council Development Area has joined councils across Lagos State in rolling out the Lagos State E-Birth Registration Initiative—an innovation poised to transform birth documentation and strengthen the digital identity system for children.

The initiative, introduced by the Lagos State Government in partnership with the National Population Commission (NPC), aims to modernize birth registration by making the process faster, more efficient, and more accurate. Through this system, every child born within the state can be digitally captured, ensuring proper documentation, access to social services, and long-term planning.

Representing the Executive Chairman, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, the Leader of the House, Hon. Opeyemi Apatira, accompanied by other councillors, welcomed stakeholders, primary healthcare leaders, and community representatives. He reaffirmed the council’s strong commitment to innovation, improved identity management, and enhancing citizens’ access to essential services.

The launch featured on-site demonstrations and real-time enrollment of newborns, underscoring Ojodu LCDA’s preparedness to fully operationalize the digital registration system across all wards.

To officially kick-start the implementation, E-Registration Tablets were presented to Oke-Ira Central PHC, Ogba PHC, and Ojodu LCDA. The gesture marked the beginning of a new era in efficient, data-driven birth management within the council.

The event was well attended by all councillors, officials of the legislative arm, the Medical Officer of Health, apex nurses, and other dignitaries.
