Ojodu Council Chairman Odunmbaku renders 3 years stewardship account, commences repair of Ogba bus stop

The Council Chairman unveiled his achievements at a media paley on Tuesday, where he rendered three years scorecard at the Conference room of Governor’s Apartment Omole Phase 1

Odunmbaku highlighted sustainable development projects in healthcare, education, and social development, alluded that “We took the bull by the horn and came up with “H.E.Y.S” Agenda. This acronym is our Administration’s four strategic developmental and human agenda namely: Health, Education, Youth & Women Development and social Infrastructure”.

“These accomplishments demonstrate our commitment to providing quality and good health care services to our people as they say, Health is Wealth and a healthy nation is a wealthy nation”.

HEALTH

Hon Odunmbaku noted the transformation achieved on the healthcare sector, these include the rehabilitation of Apata Primary Health Centre (PHC) and the upgrade of Gbadamosi and Apata PHCs to operate 24-hour services.

He said his administration commissioned the Agidingbi PHC and employed 120 medical personnel, including doctors, midwives, and health workers, adding that to further enhance healthcare delivery, three ambulances and two mobile tricycle ambulances were procured, ensuring prompt medical services for residents.

Furthermore, Odunmbaku stated that his administration prioritised free quality healthcare programmes, saying over 900 beneficiaries were reached during a free medical mission organized in collaboration with Nigerian physicians from the U.S., while another 1,500 residents received fibroid and eye surgeries through a partnership with Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke.

The Ojodu LCDA Chairman stated that his administration as well hosted free mammogram screenings for women over 40 and provided dental procedures, eye tests, and free medicated glasses to over 100 residents, while his administration also conducted a 5-day cervical cancer screening programme in conjunction with Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), targeting 250 women.

EDUCATION

Hon Segun Odunmbaku stated that his administration provided support to indigent students, distributing 700 GCE and 900 JAMB forms from 2022 to 2024, saying that the council organized extensive coaching classes to prepare candidates for their exams.

Odunmbaku also informed journalists at the media parley that 180 back-to-school kits, including books, school bags, and uniforms, were distributed to pupils, while deserving teachers received cash gifts totaling N3 million through a performance reward initiative.

Digital Skills Training Update: Ojodu LCDA Pupils engaged in ICT Practical Programme – OJODU LCDA

He added that the administration also upgraded ICT centres, trained over 4,800 pupils in digital skills, and facilitated the renovation of public schools, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students, while scholarships and bursaries were awarded to outstanding students, with two first-class graduates receiving N500,000 each.

Social Development: Youth and Women Empowerment

Odunmbaku also highlighted the importance of youth and women empowerment, noting that over 1,000 women and youths received vocational training in areas like UI/UX design, data analysis, digital marketing, and more, adding that his administration also provided tools and working kits to beneficiaries, alongside training programmes in partnership with organizations like Flux Technology and SPEED UP Lagos.

He revealed that 250 residents participated in a three-month skills acquisition programme focused on soap-making, makeup, and other trades, while 75 POS machines were distributed to artisans to promote entrepreneurship.

Ojodu LCDA initiated food distribution program to assist vulnerable residents facing hardship. Providing essential food items like rice, beans, garri, yams, bread, and eggs to households in need within Ojodu LCDA.

He also noted the distribution of Tools and Working Kits like Sewing Machines, Make Up Kits, Automobile Repair Tools, Blending Machines to Women and Youths, with Cash Grant and 10kg Food Items worth N1,210,000 to 250 widows, Elderly and Disabled people.

He said subsidized food items were sold to over 2,500 beneficiaries, and mini-buses were provided to communities for free transportation, benefiting over 1 million school children and residents. The distribution of palliatives to ease the impact of subsidy removal on residents.

David Olusegun Odunmbaku recently distributed new vehicles to various security formations and for medical outreach initiatives. This distribution aims to enhance community security and healthcare services

INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT 

Hon Odunmbaku outlined key infrastructure projects completed under his tenure, including the renovation of public facilities and also the ongoing reconstruction of the failed section of Oba Ogunnusi road by Area G-Ogba bus.

He stated that the Council have initiated a partnership with Lagos State Public Works Corporation and the State Ministry of Works, emphasized that the Council have fulfilled their part of the agreement with the construction of drainages of the deplorable section of the road.

The Chairman also announced upcoming projects, including the reconstruction of markets, a modern recreational centre, and the flagship Gbadamosi health centre which will be rebuilt into a more modern facility.

  • Partnered with WaterAid and PEPSICO to provide WASH FACILITIES across  schools, markets and health centers.
  • Hosted 2 Ojodu Carnivals with Talent Hunts, Cultural Festival and Christmas  Carol at NIJ Premises.
