Obasanjo lacks credibility to talk about fraudulent elections – Sowore

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (ADC) Omoyele Sowore has knocked former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his call for the cancellation of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Obasanjo, in a letter on Monday, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to cancel the presidential and National Assembly elections for not passing the credibility and transparency test

He urged Buhari to reschedule such canceled elections along with areas where elections were disrupted for next Saturday, March 4, 2023.

He further suggested that the BVAS and server officials for the elections should also be changed.

The elder statesman also recommended that a committee of Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC) staff and representatives of the four major political parties with the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) be constituted.

Their duty, he said, would be to find stations or polling units that were manipulated as well as look into what must be done to have hitch-free elections next Saturday.

But Sowore said the former president lacked the credibility to disrepute the elections, accusing the latter of having laid the foundation for scrappy elections, noting he organised some of the most fraudulent polls during his eight-year tenure as the country’s president.

He tweeted: “Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has no credibility to talk about fraudulent elections, Ex Pres Obasanjo organised some of the most fraudulent elections during his 8-year tenure as President of Nigeria. He laid the foundation for the shambolic elections that has become Nigeria’s lot now!”
